Culvert Install Complete! Building a Driveway Base from a Huge Borrow Pit

Back out at the Van Alstyne, Texas property where we recently tore down the old gazebo, and this time we got the culvert installed and started building the new driveway entrance off a busy farm-to-market road.

In this video, we dig a huge borrow pit on site and use that material to compact around the culvert, build up the driveway base, and start shaping the new entrance. Instead of hauling in unnecessary material right away, we used what the property gave us and put it to work.

This job had a little bit of everything—culvert installation, excavation, compacting, drainage prep, rough driveway grading, and plenty of dirt work with the JCB excavator. Getting the culvert set correctly is one of the most important parts of building a driveway entrance because it affects drainage, stability, erosion control, and long-term performance.

This is part of the larger Van Alstyne property cleanup and development project, with more excavation, driveway work, and site improvements coming soon.
