Idaho bans controversial 'critical race theory'

Idaho is on the cusp of banning "critical race theory," a controversial idealogy that claims all western institutions are inherently racist, from being taught in public schools and universities.

The bill, HB 377, would prohibit public institutions from teaching that "any sex, race, ethnicity, religion, color, or national origin is inherently superior or inferior," which, the bill says, is a claim often found in "critical race theory."

The bill has passed the state house and will be sent to the governor's office to be signed into law.

Last year Donald Trump issued an executive order banning the practice being taught in federal government organisations, however Joe Biden overturned it when he took office earier this year.
