Sabaton - The lost battalion (English Lyrics)

Deep in the Argonne forest, during the Meuse-Argonne offensive in 1918, the US 77th division were surrounded by German forces after severely over-extending. Assuming that other divisions were moving up guarding their flanks, they moved far ahead and were surrounded without realising it. For an entire week, the lost battalion endured attack after attack by the Germans, carefully countering each one by means of German-American members of the battalion translating carelessly shouted orders. On the second day, they were struck by a friendly artillery bombardment and send a carrier pigeon telling them to "For heavens sake, stop it" Eventually, on the 7th day, the allies lines surged forward enough to relieve the lost battalion. When the Americans caught up with the battalion, it had only 194 men left, from an original strength of 554.
