LIVE: Unauthorised march takes place in Hong Kong on National Day of China

An unauthorisedanti-government march is due to take place in Hong Kong on Tuesday, October 1, on the National Day of the People's Republic of China.

The march is one of a series of actions due to be staged by protesters during commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam told local media that the city will strive to hold solemn events in a safe environment to celebrate the occasion.

Hong Kong has been rocked since March by demonstrations sparked by a planned, but now-withdrawn extradition bill. The rallies have evolved into a movement with wider grievances against the Hong Kong administration.
