Flash Flood! 360 - Narrated VR Video

In July 2007, the Thinhope Burn valley in northern England was hit by a flooding from intense rainfall event. A heavy thunderstorm in the steep uplands caused water to funnel down the narrow valley sides, sending a wall of water and debris crashing down the river. The river was changed for years afterwards.

This is a 360 video version based on the SeriousGeoGames original Flash Flood! VR activity. The scene is built using GPS and laser scan surveys of the valley captured before and after the flood. Having this data available is rare as such events are nearly impossible to forecast.

Narration is provided by Dr Chris Skinner, a numerical modeller of flooding and geomorphology at the Energy and Environment Institute, University of Hull.
