Pereira

Alex Pereira didn't just brush off Khamzat Chimaev's callout — he redirected it entirely. Rather than accepting an MMA showdown, Pereira countered with a grappling match, potentially under the UFC's new UFC BJJ banner, stating he would donate 100% of his earnings to charity. The response was immediate. Chimaev fired back on Instagram: "Let's go I can submit you both on the same night."

The confidence from Pereira's side is bold given the matchup on paper. Chimaev landed 12 of 17 takedown attempts and controlled Dricus du Plessis for almost 22 minutes in their title fight, while Pereira has landed just one takedown across 12 UFC appearances. On pure grappling credentials, this is Chimaev's territory.
But Pereira has never been the fighter you expect. Two-division UFC champion, a BJJ black belt training daily under Glover Teixeira, and a willingness to step into anyone's wheelhouse — that is not a man who issues challenges he isn't prepared to back up. The fact that he's offering to do it for charity only adds to the spectacle.
Whether the UFC BJJ platform makes this happen or not, the exchange alone has the MMA world talking. Two reigning champions, two completely different styles, and one mat.
