Detailed Unboxing of Plantronics Voyager Focus UC and comparison with Jabra Evolve 75 and Senheisser Adapt 300

Hey guys! Welcome to TechComparos. These days, I find myself working a lot from my home office. And with that comes a lot of tele and web conferencing with my colleagues. What does make my life a little easier for these conferencing sessions is a powerful headset that is user friendly and provides great audio quality for both the caller and the receiver. So, today I will be reviewing the Plantronics Voyager Focus UC.

A little bit about the company that makes these headsets. The name of the company is Poly, it came to life in 2019 when Polycom & Plantronics merged together. Polycom & Plantronics both have been making office equipment for a long time.

Now lets go ahead and open the box!
In the box comes a BT 600 USB Bluetooth adapter, a charging stand which connects to the laptop via USB and the headset. Also, in the box there is a USB charging cable, a soft carrying case and a user manual.

The Plantronics Voyager Focus UC Connects to laptops, Bluetooth enabled desk phones, mobile phones, tablets and smart watches via Bluetooth. It can also connect to laptops via this USB adapter.

With this headset, you can switch the left and right headphones when you are wearing, that means it doesn’t matter how you are wearing them. This way or that way, it doesn’t matter. The microphone is flexible.
One side of the headset has buttons which allow you to play or pause your music, fast-forward or rewind your music. The same side also has a Volume control knob. At the bottom on this side is the ON/Off button for Active Noise Cancellation.

The other side of the headset is equipped with the microphone, along with the Power button, which also doubles as a BT pairing button. There is a red button on the microphone for the Mute function.
On this side there are Blue LEDs that light up if you are on a phone call.

This headset has a rated talk time 10 hours with Noise Cancellation enabled and 10 hours without.
One of the best features of this headset is the smart sensor. Say you are listening to music and you get a phone call. The music automatically pauses. You just have to hit the play button to disconnect the call and the music automatically resumes.

Also, another cool feature is - If you take the headset off while listening to music it automatically pauses the music and resumes once you put the headset back on. It mutes the microphone automatically if you take off the headset while in a phone call.

Now let’s see how this headset fares against its competitors. The Plantronics Voyage Focus UC us priced at $199.
The Senheisser Adapt 300 EPOS headset priced at $269 has a higher quality stereo performance with better battery performance. But it does not have as many features as the Plantronics Voyager Focus UC.
The other competitor is the Jabra Evolve 75 headset which is priced at $249, It has a Better Noise cancellation and better sidetone performance compared to the Plantronics Voyager Focus UC. However, the built quality of the Voyager Focus is better than that of the Evolve 75 and looks elite. The Voyager Focus is also better value for money with a slightly better audio quality.
What I dont like about the Plantronics Voyager Focus UC is that it has an unnatural sidetone, Only Bluetooth connectivity compared to the Sennheiser Adapt 300 EPOS which can also connect via a USB cable or a USB-C connector or an audio cable to other devices.
Pros: So, to summarize, the Plantronics Voyager Focus UC has good sound quality, has highly impressive music quality with a tight bass if that’s what you are using this for.
It possesses Active noise cancellation especially for the microphone to eliminate unwanted ambient noises and smart sensor technology. Its Robust built quality along with premium materials, especially the soft pads provide comfort during longer phone calls. The volume control knob has a Nice feel to it when in use and the microphone latch is not flimsy. Also, you can easily mount and unmount it from the charging stand.
