Il video “Barca a vela in acquarello” è uno degli acquarelli di Gianni Sommariva che si occupa di preservare il bianco del foglio che è una delle peculiarità dell’acquarello. Vi sono molti modi per farlo, che saranno oggetto di altri video, ma in questo caso si fa uso di carta adesiva.
Questo materiale si adatta particolarmente quando la superficie è piuttosto ampia e di forma regolare e quindi l’uso del mascherante non è consigliato.
Come si può vedere nel video non danneggia il foglio di carta che nel caso dell’esempio si tratta di per artisti della Fabriano ( attenzione però che non tutti i fogli par acquarello sopportano tale trattamento, ma solo quelli di buona qualità che hanno subito una lavorazione sulla superficie).
Il nastro adesivo essendo inoltre semitrasparente è possibile sagomarlo a posteriori sul disegno con facilità.
Si noti inoltre che l’incisione con un cutter non danneggia la carta stessa.
Nello specifico di “Barca a vela in acquarello” presevare il bianco in questa maniera consente una stesura uniforme dello sfondo, in questo caso il mare.
Vedremo in video successivi come può non essere la sola soluzione, ma in questo caso si evidenzia la praticità di poter stendere il colore senza interruzione .
Il bianco rimasto usando il nastro di carta adesivo ( e solo quello, non altri tipi di nastro) può essere dipinto successivamente nel modo usuale.

The video "Sailboat in watercolor" is one of the watercolors by Gianni Sommariva that deals with preserving the white of the sheet which is one of the peculiarities of watercolor. There are many ways to do this, which will be the subject of other videos, but in this case adhesive paper is used.
This material is particularly suitable when the surface is rather large and of regular shape and therefore the use of masking is not recommended.
As you can see in the video it does not damage the sheet of paper which in the case of the example is for Fabriano artists (attention however that not all watercolor sheets support this treatment, but only those of good quality that have undergone processing on surface).
The adhesive tape being also semi-transparent it is possible to shape it after easily on the drawing.
Also note that the incision with a cutter does not damage the paper itself.
In the specific of "Sailboat in watercolor" to preserve the white in this way allows a uniform laying of the background, in this case the sea.
We will see in subsequent videos how it may not be the only solution, but in this case we highlight the practicality of being able to spread the color without interruption.
The remaining white using the adhesive paper tape (and only that, not other types of tape) can be subsequently painted in the usual way.
