Solar activity has been slowly declining, a trend that started following solar maximum in late summer 2024. However, there's still a lot to see!

Today, 9/12/2025, the sunspot number was 92.

NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) captures a shot of the sun every ~10s in 10 different wavelengths of light. These include: 94, 131, 171, 193, 211, 304, 335, 1600, and 1700 Angstroms. Many are in the extreme UV spectrum.

SDO captured some really interesting sun features and phenomena: coronal loops, coronal holes, an outbreak of sunspots with several giant active regions, huge solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CME).
