Jewelry that is mass produced often relies on the use of bezels that are cast as a part of a piece. Often, stones are anchored in these bezels with glue in order to speed up the manufacturing process. But, depending on the metal used for the casting, these same bezels can sometimes be manipulated with stone setting tools to hold a gemstone.

In this video, Professor John Ahr of the Online Jewelry Academy demonstrates how to make a wax bezel for a cabochon stone using 22 gauge pink sheet wax. The bezel is closed and attached to a 4mm thick file-a-wax backing using blue inlay wax.

Viewers will be surprised by the simple tools that Prof. Ahr uses to develop and refine the project. No doubt you probably already own many of the tools used in this video.
