Angus Taylor urges government to curb its ‘addiction to spending’
Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor says the first and most important test of the upcoming federal budget is whether or not it will place downward pressure on inflation.
There is growing concern the Albanese government’s Future Made in Australia agenda could exacerbate inflation.
Independent economist Chris Richardson warns it could lead to increased budget deficits over time as a result.
“That means containing their addiction to spending,” Mr Taylor told Sky News Australia.
“This is what Labor governments always do – they try to defy the laws of economics – we are seeing the failures of this now with their homegrown inflation continuing to rage.”
