TRAMS AND LIGHT RAIL IN BUENOS AIRES ARGENTINA

The City of Buenos Aires in Argentina once had a huge tramway network extending to many areas of the city. By the early 1960's all tram routes had been replaced by buses.
At present there are 4 Tramway / Light Rail systems in operation in the Buenos Aires area. The tourist tram which operates over street trackage operates at weekends with preserved trams from Portugal and Buenos Aires, while pre-metro line E2 is an extension of the subway system but operates as an independent system. Tren de la Costa runs on a formation of a former broad gauge suburban railway and uses Italian built trains on standard gauge tracks. Most recent Light Rail line is the demonstration line which runs along the docks in central Buenos Aires and utilizes a Spanish Citadis type tram. Sit back and enjoy some transport in the land of the Tango......Don't forget to watch our trains around Buenos Aires Video.
