A lot of students choose A-level subjects as if they are just choosing school subjects.

But they are not.

Your A-levels can open university doors, or quietly close them before you even realise.

A lot of students choose A-level subjects as if they are just choosing school subjects.

But they are not.

Your A-level subjects, your university major and your future career should all be connected in one master plan.

The best way to do this is to reverse-plan the whole process.

Start with the career you might want.

Then look at the university major that leads to that career.

Then contact the university and ask them for their exact entry requirements.

Only after that should you decide which A-level subjects you are going to choose.

Because one wrong subject choice can quietly close the door to a major you wanted later.

And to find the right career, do not just ask, “What do I love?”

That advice is incomplete.

Passion matters, but it is only one part of the decision.

Your future career should also be something you are good at.

It should be something the world actually needs.

And most importantly, it should not only be in demand today.

It should still be valuable in five or ten years, especially with AI and automation replacing many jobs.

When a career matches your strengths, your interests and future demand, the financial reward becomes much more realistic.

That should determine your university major.

And your university major should determine the A-level subjects you choose.

So do not choose a subject because you heard it is easy.

And do not choose it just because everyone in school is taking it.

Reverse-plan your future.
