La Luna Azul is a spectacular one-of-a-kind true eco-property overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Costa Rica. The main house has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, each representing unique aspects of the property: El Mar, El Bosque and El Cielo. Toilets are composted in a special hacienda at the bottom of the property, following the scientific principles and processes from several books.
The casita (Casita del Pico) is a self-contained suite with kitchen, enormous bathroom and sleeping space for four with a living area. Attached to the casita is the bodega for washer, utilities, tools and more. The casita and casa complement each other with their white exteriors, eucalyptus structural beams, and sprawling thatch roofs.
In front of La Luna Azul is a small guard house, which has a small cooking area, shower area, and full-size bed. A video security system is also fully enabled for use.
Bamboo and metal gates are at the entrance to this distinctive property, so they fit with the overall sustainable and welcoming energy of the space. Local plants are everywhere and there is a finished walking path around the entire perimeter with over 200 stairs and many meters of walking. Smaller pathways connect all the buildings and other utility areas of the property (laundry, hot water heater, solar panels, compost hacienda etc.)
Located within a 450-acre eco preserve, La Luna Azul is two miles to Yankee Beach, one of the best surfing beaches in Nicaragua. Another 10+ beaches are all within 30 minutes’ drive, and the town of San Juan del Sur is 20 minutes away.
