I've been giddy with excitement waiting to release this one! The Matchbox Škoda 130LR was only produced post-Lesney by Universal Toys for two years, and was only available outside of the US and Canada in the 'Rest of World' lineup. As such, it is a fairly rare model. This one though came to me in an incredible state of disrepair. The paint had almost entirely been removed by gouging it off the body, while the plastics had been coloured in with marker pens. The rear window had tape over it that was keeping it intact. Once opened, there was a sea of rust engulfing the axles and suspension spring. It really was a major upheaval to get this odd model back to original condition, but that was helped by some excellent decals.

The only Škoda in the Matchbox range certainly was a great choice, being the Group B rally version in its factory works team livery. It is definitely one of my all-time favourites, and even more so now I've restored this one!
