Today in Space History - April 14 (Landing of STS-1)
The first landing of a space shuttle, April 14, 1981, at Edwards Air Force Base, California. I've always felt as though Young and Crippen were so excited after the landing because they were just glad to be back alive! As the first manned spacecraft to be flown without an unmanned flight test was putting a great deal on the line. And it was the return of manned space flight, the first for the US since 1975. A great flight.
