A flotilla of fishing boats sailed up the River Tyne in Newcastle on Friday to protest against Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit plan. They demand that the UK leave the European Union without a deal.

Around 20 Fishing For Leave boats made their way to Newcastle Quayside. Some carried banners reading "Britons, never be slaves" and "Save our country, no deal now." They believe that the terms of the Withdrawal Agreement represent a threat to fishing.

"We want out, we want out, we voted for leave and we want out. We want to be landing, all these boats have to lease fish, why should they lease fish? That boat I have here is 40 years old, why the hell am I leasing fish for somebody?" asked one of the Leave protesters.

People in favour of a deal were also present and there were some heated debates between the two groups.
