This week in Black History...

- Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, a pioneering Black trans activist and veteran of the Stonewall Uprisings, passed away (on October 13, 2025). Her life and work spanned prison abolition, HIV/AIDS advocacy, and mentorship in the trans community.

- The National Museum of African American History and Culture hosted a "Double Victory: The African American Military Experience Highlights Tour" on October 15, honoring the contributions of African American service members throughout history.

- Claudia Charles established Neighborhood Cornerstone Partners, the inaugural Black-owned HOA management company, addressing equity in real estate and community governance.

- Michael Eugene Archer, professionally known as D'Angelo, the innovative neo-soul pioneer whose fusion of R&B, funk, jazz, and hip-hop reshaped modern Black music through landmark albums like Brown Sugar (1995), Voodoo (2000), and Black Messiah (2014), has died at age 51.
