A farewell to Mosley Street station, Manchester Metrolink
Filmed in the last week of operation of this curious one-way station which existed because it was the only one in the Piccadilly Gardens area served by both Piccadilly - Altrincham and Bury - Altrincham routes. It was very popular too, with over 300,000 passengers per year, but it had to go because its 'profiled platform' prevented use by twin pairs of the new 3000 series trams which don't have retractable steps, and altering the platform to full height would, it was said, cause an obstruction to pedestrians (and cost over 1 million pounds, it was claimed).
