Global Kerning Changes in InDesign through GREP Styles

Manually changing kerning values for every instance of a certain letter pair can be quite time-consuming. But with tracking values and GREP styles you can make global, non-destructive kerning changes, apply them to your whole document and readjust them easily any time you want.

Errata/additional notes:
1. In the video I say two times “paragraph styles” when I actually apply “character styles”. The correct terms appear in the CC.
2. If you wonder why I say you can’t use the kerning values in InDesign: this of course only applies to this specific trick using GREP styles. Kerning values can’t be stored in character styles in recent versions of InDesign and so I use tracking values instead. In other situations you are of course free to change the kerning values when you want to edit the spacing between characters.
