Rare Martin Handcraft Committee #2 Bore Trumpet: ACB Show and Tell!

[Link in description] There are some rare, vintage, "holy grail" trumpets out there and this is one of them! This is a transition model between one of my favorite vintage horns, the Handcraft Imperial, and the Committee model. There are many aspects to this horn that are reminiscent of the Handcraft Imperial, like the nickel trim, tuning slide garland, and lever-style water keys. The stress-free point-to-point bracings. The bell is a fully "Committee" bell.

This horn plays great, with a rich, full sound that's not too bright, and not too dark. It's in that Goldilocks zone where you have some room to color the sound in the way that you want. The intonation is fairly consistent, the gap setting is a bit better than on the Committees.

The #2 bore is a little more common than the #3 large bore. A #3 bore Handcraft Committee would be listed at around $10,000 due to the rarity and desirability of the large bore version of the horn.

There's some compression loss in the valves, typical of older horns. It plays nicely with a heavier valve oil! With the smaller bore sizes I find that the playability can still be quite good even with a lower compression measurement.
