First Trip Out 2025 #fishing #fish #boating

January 2, 2025 We fished Santa Cruz Island & the inshore waters off Oxnard Shores. We had a few multi species releases and one decent keeper sand bass hookup. The weather was clear, seas calm & temps cold. We explored new spots in anticipation for summer fishing. The fishing was slow, but it was worth the trip out.

Regularly caught fish: anchovy, barred surfperch, blue bass, bonito, brown rockfish, calico bass, California halibut, Catalina blue perch, chucklehead, grunion, jack mackerel, jack smelt, lingcod, lizardfish, opaleye perch, pacific mackerel, queenfish, sand bass, sand dab, sardine, sculpin, sheepshead, shiner surfperch, tuna, walleye surfperch, whitefish and yellow croaker.
