DIY Remove or Replace Ford Kuga Mk2 / Escape Battery The Easy Way

YouTube #1 Mk2 Kuga DIY Battery Replacement video - I see a lot of videos showing their "how to" guide for replacing the battery on the Ford Kuga and Escape. Often these videos show them removing the wiper arms and the plastic cover. STOP!!!

I will also show you how to reset the Battery Monitor Sensor too, which is a necessary step you must take in order to allow the body control module to monitor the battery state of charge.

Note: It is best practice to remove the negative terminal first , often on these vehicles the negative lead connection on the chassis is seized and may snap or strip the threads. In this video once the positive lead is disconnected, the battery can be moved forward, the positive lead cannot now touch the battery, it is away from potential arcing from making contact with the positive terminal. Likewise on re-fitting, the battery securing clamp is not connected to chassis, its a captive stud within a plastic housing.
