Surfing is a water sport involving riding waves on a surfboard. Participants paddle out and stand up as the wave breaks, maintaining their balance as they ride it. It originated in ancient Polynesian culture, particularly in Hawaii, and has since become a popular activity around the world, both in natural and artificial wave settings.
