When Renting a Luxury Car from Enterprise Goes Wrong

Due to a motor vehicle accident with my Tesla Model S, I was given an Enterprise rental reservation by Geico, being covered by 3rd party insurance since the other party was found to have 100% liability.

I initially picked up an Audi Q3 luxury/premium SUV from the Empire Blvd Enterprise location on April 19th - I inquired about an electric car, as I did not want the additional expense of paying for gas during these unprecedented times, but alas I was denied both an electric vehicle (due to availability) and being reimbursed for gas expenses (due to Geico and Enterprise policy). After driving the car for about a week, I discovered that the vehicle was missing its registration paperwork for the PA license plates. I returned to the Empire location to inquire about the missing registration, and was then told that the registration had been expired for months on the Audi, and no one knew about it until they looked it up. I was upset at this oversight, especially considering that I could have been pulled over and put in a very compromising situation driving a vehicle with expired out of state license plates (in a time when police were vigilant about fake and expired plates being used across NY). Instead of fixing the issue, they decided to swap me into another vehicle, a Volvo XC60.

Now the brakes on this Volvo have been grinding really bad for the past 2 weeks, getting progressively worse (see link here for sample video) and every local and airport Enterprise location that I’ve called or visited says they can't swap me out or don't have anything comparable. I called Empire to plead with them about availability or finding a vehicle suitable for my needs. They suggested that I bring the car to Pep boys to have them fix the car (on their dime). I thought the manager was joking at first, but as he further explained I realized he was serious - for me to take time out of my schedule to do what should have been done by Enterprise staff, to bring a vehicle that I rented in for repair, to replace my vehicle that is in for repair. This was not an option that I considered initially, as I’m not aware of any compensation for the time and inconvenience that would be offered (also, what would I drive while the vehicle was being repaired?)

I drove to both JFK and LGA airports, asked about a Polestar 2 I saw in the lot, they said that's for reservations only, but they can swap me into a Hyundai Kona EV (the Polestar is "luxury electric" and doesn't qualify for a swap AKA they want that full rate from a paying customer, not through insurance). As I was driving a higher class of vehicle, and due to a safety issue with my current vehicle, I feel that some exceptions can and should be made - which is why I’m reaching out here.
