Here we are passing through the town of Bijbehara (known as Vijeshwara in ancient times), situated in the District of Anantnag in south Kashmir. As a kid, it once used to be my matamaal (mother's home).
In the spring of 2007, the air was heavy with nostalgia and anticipation as I, a Kashmiri Pandit, answered the long-awaited call to return to my ancestral homeland. Decades of separation had only heightened the desire to reconnect with the land of my roots.
