Pineapple sage - eat the leaves and flowers too

Welcome to Morag Gamble's (https://moraggamble.com and https://permacultureeducationinstitute.org) permaculture garden. In this Live at 5 session she is sharing about Pineapple Sage (Salvia elegans) which makes fabulous drinks, hot and cold, and can be added to salads too. It makes a great calming tea and the nectar in the flowers is delicious.

Kids love it - always a great one to add into a school garden.

It's habitat too - a favourite for bees, butterflies and birds, even a top choice for hummingbirds (although not here in my Australian garden!)

Pineapple sage is culinary, medicinal, ecological and ornamental. It is a beautiful, hardy perennial plant that adds great colour and structure to your edible landscape. It grows as a perennial in temperate and subtropics, but an annual in cooler climates.
