Forming part of the vocabulary of transactional analysis (Berne, 1961), our life script (Berne, 1972 p.46) is an unconscious pathway created in childhood, reinforced by our parents, and strengthened with evidence sought throughout life, ensuring our beliefs are justified.

**Life Scripts in Transactional Analysis.**
Life script is a fundamental piece of Berne's theory on how human personality develops in childhood and plays out throughout the entirety of our life. A TA Therapist would explore a client's life script to help a client -
Understand how the past influences 'here and now' behaviour.
To help a client move away from unhelpful patterns of behaviour.
To free the client of the fears and expectations they carried as a child.
To help the client access a more adult ego state.
