Cloudburst in Dharamshala leads to flash floods and destruction

Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh was hit by a severe cloudburst on July 12, 2021. The cloudburst triggered heavy rain and flash floods in Bhagsu Nag area of Dharamshala. The Manjhi river's water level rose to an alarming level. Several vehicles were swept away by the strong gushing water. The rapid pace of water damaged many buildings in the area. As of now, no casualties are reported due to the flash floods. The centre has sent NDRF teams to Himachal to help in rescue operations. Dharamshala is one of the favourite tourist destinations in North India. At present, It is packed with a lot of tourists from Delhi and nearby areas. Many tourists are stuck due to the blockade on Shimla's national highway. The IMD*has issued an orange weather warning (heavy to very heavy rains) in the Himalayan region.
