Jimi James Fraser Quintet - “Blues on 64th Street” (Live at Experimental Waves)

Experimental Waves (EXP.WAVS) is an event series and label for musical experimentation and multi-disciplinary performance across Vancouver’s diverse artistic landscape.

For this inaugural recorded performance series, we are featuring the Jimi James Quartet. After playing together for the first time at the “Jazz House”, the decision was made to start rehearsing once a week. The group quickly developed a repertoire of classic pieces from the jazz canon. Some of their favourite composers include John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Benny Golson, and Thelonius Monk. The band also has an extensive catalogue of pieces by Hugh Fraser in their library. The quartet has preformed at a variety of clubs including the Libra Room and Tyrant Studios in Vancouver, as well as Hermann’s in Victoria.
For this special performance, the quintet performs all track written composed and arranged by Jimi James Fraser.
