In this episode, I take you to New Slains Castle in Aberdeenshire, built by the 9th Earl of Erroll of teh Hay clan, and sold to Sir John Ellerman, who subsequently left it for ruin to save on taxes, like so many other Scottish castles. However, one of the cool things about this castle in its day was that Bram Stoker, the Irish Author, was one of the famous people who stayed here. Inspired by the castle, he wrote the Dracula novel and Transylvania castle was the inspiration of New Slains Castle.
