UConn men's hockey falls to #10 BU 2-1 in conference opener.

The UConn men's hockey team began their conference schedule on Friday, Oct. 8 against Boston University. The Huskies were coming off of a 6-3 win against Sacred Heart University on Saturday, Oct. 2, while the Terriers had yet to play an official game and would begin their regular and conference season schedule at the XL Center.

It was a tough and gritty match from the offset, as expected between two rivals. The Huskies would strike first courtesy of forward Vladislav Fristov; great goaltender play on both sides meant that another goal would not come until the third period. This time, it would be BU's turn to find the back of the net, as Terrier forward Sam Stevens was able to slap it past Hansen to get Boston on the board. Then, two minutes later, forward Ethan Phillips and defender Case McCarthy combined to find forward Robert Mastrosimone, who slapped it into the bottom left corner to win it for BU.

The Huskies will now travel to the Agganis arena at Boston University to complete the home-and-home series. UConn will look to bounce back and build some momentum before a difficult two-game series against Ohio State in Columbus.
