Mr. Mark Blevins, from Columbia, South Carolina kindly sent us the armrest of his MBenz W123 to be wrapped in leather...we accepted to do the job and recorded the procedure in four video-tutorials.
This first video shows the procedure to patterning the armrest using 'stretchy vinyl' to get the template.
We call it 'stretchy templates', because the material should be stretched in 'different grades' to take the shape of the piece to be covered. After having the 'vinyl template' ready, it is taken off and recuperates its original shape...that's why is very important to mark 'points of reference' to get a nice cover sewing...as the vinyl 'shrinks' in some parts, so, at the sewing time you should stretch it a little to get the 'reference points' meet one in front of the other...this is the difference that exists between 'non-stretchy molds/templates' and 'stretchy molds/templates.
I hope you find this video useful!
