Crochet Airy Summer Sun Hat Part 1 | Lyza Walters

Crochet summer sun hat for women. This is from round 1 to 17. Step by step tutorial.
Skill level: Easy to intermediate

Hat's circumference 22.5 inches.

Note/Tip For round 11 to 17 only - make sure the beginning Chain 1 is loose about a height of unfinish DC. There's also other way to join the round. Instead of slip stitching into both loops of beginning cluster, slip stitch into back & 3rd loop(back 2 loops) of a beginning cluster. It gives neater seam.

Materials used:
Sport weight yarn 100% mercerized cotton(2 skeins, 218 yarns each.). I used 1 & half skeins. I am guessing I used 340 to 375yards. I also made one with yarn bee light weight yarn(377 yards on one skein). I have a little leftover with it. So this is less than 377 yards to make this hat.

2.75 mm crochet hook( the hat will be smaller if using smaller hook & thinner yarn)
18 gauge galvanized steel wire( I used 49 inches, join is included)
Tape & glue (for the wire join)
8.0mm 40 plastic beads
tape measure
scissors
stitch marker

Trimmer line is an alternative of wire. The hat's brim will be floppy or wavy with this line.

Tip: How to get your desired hat's size: You can get your flat circle diameter by dividing the head circumference by 3.14 then subtract (.5) for nice fitting....Example - Head circumference is 20 inches then divide by 3.14 equals 6.4 then subtract .5 equals 5.9..You can make the hat's circle from 5.75 to 6 inches for 20 head circumference. This is my estimation only.
