Pursuit Ends In Dramatic Wreck (2/20/1998)

Police were following a possible DUI when 48-year-old Donald Mayfield took off. Minutes after taking off, Mayfield blows through an intersection where the disaster unfolds. Two drivers walked away under their own power while a third was airlifted to a hospital where they made a full recovery. The suspect had the worst injuries, Mayfield sustained permanent brain damage and is confined to a wheelchair for life.

On May 2, 2000, Mayfield was sentenced to eight years probation and found guilty of his actions.
