Basic Components of a VoIP network
This is a beginner's introduction to the basic components that make up a Voice over IP network.
At it's most basic, you need to have a broadband modem, a switch and VoIP phones. However, it can get fancier from there. Many installation use a special VoIP router also known as a "session border controller". And, many network also include "POE" or "power over Ethernet". POE send the power on the network cables so the phone (or device) does not need to also have a power adapter.
This video features Polycom VVX 310 models. While basic, they are still very powerful.
