In this video, we show Porto Venere, which is a town and comune located on the Ligurian coast of Italy in the province of La Spezia. It comprises the three villages of Fezzano, Le Grazie and Porto Venere, and the three islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto. In 1997 Porto Venere and the villages of Cinque Terre were designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Porto Venere is often called the “sixth” town of the Cinque Terre (“Five Lands”), because you can see the same rocky and steep shores, stone and pebble beaches and perfectly preserved defensive towers and forts to protect the population from attacks by the Turks.

Porto Venere confina a nord con il comune della Spezia mentre a sud, ovest ed est è bagnato dal mar Ligure. Oltre al capoluogo, fanno parte del territorio comunale le due frazioni di Fezzano e delle Grazie, nonché l'arcipelago spezzino formato dalle isole Palmaria, Tino e Tinetto. Nel 1997 Porto Venere, insieme con le isole Palmaria, Tino, Tinetto e le Cinque Terre è stato inserito tra i patrimoni dell'umanità dell'UNESCO. Porto Venere è spesso chiamata la “sesta terra” delle Cinque Terre, perché è possibile vedere le stesse coste rocciose e ripide, spiagge di pietra e ciottoli e torri difensive e forti perfettamente conservati per proteggere la popolazione dagli attacchi dei i turchi.
