Decadal Plan for Research in Security and Privacy | Richard Chow | InCTFCon

Talk Overview

The pace that today’s systems are increasing in intelligence and ubiquity is astounding, and yet these advances in capability must go hand-in-hand with advances in security and privacy of these systems. The production and collection of data to feed AI-based engines has become today’s archetypal design pattern for decision-making, analysis, actuation, prediction, and control. The scale and complexity of these data-based systems continues to grow, forcing hardware specialization and optimization to meet multiplying performance challenges. These systems have a plethora of new security and privacy demands, for instance, weaknesses in the machine-learning or conventional cryptography, privacy of personal data, and vulnerabilities in the supply-chain or hardware. This talk will discuss some of these challenges and outline research areas that address them.
