Juneteenth A Celebration of Freedom (Program Recording)
Thankyou to storyteller Velma Gladney for presenting the history and importance of Juneteenth at today's program at the Fox Lake Library on June 15, 2022. Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States which commemorates the events of June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, where he informed African Americans that the civil war ended and they are now free.
