Exploring NWR: Majestic Single Line Crossing.. Ranakpur Express Speedily Crosses Mandore Express.!!

The deep interiors of Rajasthan has one of the rarely explored single line sections that are not only are catenary free but also gives us a perfect 110 km/hr crossing that can enthrall any railfan. One such beautiful catenary free section in the heavenly NWR is of the Jodhpur-Merta Road route where you always get a golden moment to witness a majestic crossing.

One such sight that we witnessed was on a chilly spring morning at Jajjiwal station when our 12462 Old Delhi-Jodhpur 'Mandore Express' was sidelined to pave way for 14708 Dadar-Bikaner 'Ranakpur Express'. Just as our train was sidelined, after a patient wait of few minutes the starter and advance signal towards Merta Road turned Green one after another. Just as the signal turned green, we heard a huge EMD humming roar coming from the Jodhpur end. In no time, the EMD beast approached like a predator. Taking the charge of 14708 Ranakpur Express was BGKT's Beast WDP-4B#40031 as it announces it's entry with some great honking show and later exchange greetings with our sidelined Mandore Express while it darts past Jajjiwal station at over 100 km/hr speed enroute to it's destination ie. Bikaner.
