Hybrid Mixing Setup: An In-Depth look - PART 1

In this video Weezna shows his hybrid mixing setup. Using a combination of the DAW and analog gear/mixer, the hybrid mixes are made using this combination.
A breakdown of the setup:
1. The tracks are imported into the DAW and then organized by instrument type and those tracks outputs are ran to the DAW buses
2. This is where some of the audio cleanup and pre-processing is done. Using a very powerful Softube Console one, I am able to start sculpting and fixing audio issues. This is also where impart more of the SSL sound by using the 4000E emulation. Also plug-ins like Soothe2, narrow parametric EQ, and certain types of saturation plug-ins are used.
3. These tracks are now ready to go analog and the particular instruments are sent out through the DAW buses, into the patchbay, and ultimately ending up at the SSL X-Desk
4. This is where a majority of the processing is done using analog gear. Using the 18 inputs on the SSL X-Desk, this is truly where the entire mix comes together.
5. After the entire mixing process is complete and the song is finished, the tracks are then printed back into the DAW a new fully processed files. These individual files are how we deal with the artist or bands corrections.
