SKH Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School: The First 50 Years
Let's take a look back at the first five decades of SKH Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School. The video was produced for the school’s 50th anniversary celebrations
The Photos
The photos used in this video (as well as many more photos) are stored in Google Drive. Links to the photo galleries sorted by decade are on this page: https://cmestudio.wordpress.com/project50/
If you are a former student or member of staff, you can submit photos (instructions are given on the Project 50 page—see the above link). It would be especially good if we can get more photos from the period between 1998 and 2005.
Editing
The video was produced by Stephen Richards. One of the challenges of creating the video was that the material in the school’s archives is inconsistent. For example, there are several black-and-white pictures of a picnic day during the mid 1970s, only two picnic day photos for the next 25 years and thousands of more digital picnic day photos taken during the last several years. To deal this problem, I focused on different themes for each decade:
1970s: school life
1980s: uniforms
1990s: clubs & teams
2000s: international outlook (exchange students, study tours and NET teachers ) and colors
The photos from 1970 to 1999 were scanned by Stephen Richards and studio team members Nicole Ma, Annika Wong, Kelly Tse & Crystal Chan.
Music Credits
1. Tale of the Forgotten Forest Kingdom (by Kate Kwok)
2. Dreams, excerpt (by Stephen Richards)
3. Wild Illusion, excerpt (by Nikolaos Taramanidis)
4. Untitled (by Jessica Yip)
5. Chillvolution, excerpt (by Stephen Richards)
6. Outro
Jessica and Kate are former Lam Woo students.
All the songs can be downloaded from Mr. Richard's website: https://longzijun.wordpress.com/music/
Colorizing
As most of the photos in the 1970s section were black-and-white photos, some of these were colorized in order to make the photos seem less ‘distant’ for modern viewers.
