The original lyrics for "Sudno" were not written by Molchat Doma, but by Boris Ryzhy (1974–2001), one of the most brilliant and tragic Russian poets of the post-Soviet era. Born in the gritty industrial city of Sverdlovsk, Ryzhy's poetry captured the raw despair, the crumbling concrete, and the lost generation of the 1990s transition.
