Heute starten die Wandersocken am Bf. Altenahr und erleben u.a. sehr unterschiedliche Burgen, viele zauberhafte Blicke ins malerische Ahrtal, die oft erneuerte Kirche St. Mariae Verkündigung (im Ursprung aus dem 12. Jh.), Narben des Hochwassers von 2021 ebenso wie viele Neu- oder Umbauten, zahlreiche tolle und manchmal sogar abenteuerliche Waldpfade, Überbleibsel der ehemaligen Seilbahnstation, vielfältige Wälder, ein kleines Wilderdbeerparadies, künstliche und echte Vögel, eine willkommene Bäckerei in Kreuzberg, die steile Klippe vom Lingenberg, eindrucksvolle Felsen am Wegesrand und das wundervoll idyllische Langfigtal an der Ahr, in der man mit etwas Glück sogar die sogenannten #Mariensteine findet (die dort zu findenden türkisfarbenen Mariensteine oder auch Muttergottessteine werden zwar auch als Schmucksteine verwendet, sind aber keine natürlichen Edelsteine. Vielmehr handelt es sich bei diesen Steinen um Schlacken, die bei der Eisenerz-Verhüttung im 15. und 16. Jahrhundert an der Oberahr entstanden sind)...

Today, the Wandersocken hike begins at the Altenahr train station and features e.g. a variety of castles, many enchanting views of the picturesque Ahr Valley, the frequently renovated Church of the Annunciation (originally from the 12th century), scars from the 2021 flood as well as many new constructions and renovations, numerous great and sometimes even adventurous forest trails, remnants of the former cable car station, diverse forests, a small wild strawberry paradise, artificial and real birds, a welcome bakery in Kreuzberg, the steep cliff of the Lingenberg, impressive rocks along the trail, and the wonderfully idyllic Langfigtal valley on the Ahr, where, with a bit of luck, you might even find the so-called “Mariensteine” (the turquoise-colored “Mariensteine” or “Mother of God stones” found there are used as gemstones, but they are not natural gemstones. Rather, these stones are slag produced during iron ore smelting in the 15th and 16th centuries along the Upper Ahr)...
