Wind Chime Oracle Card

So, my tarot challenge for this month focuses on creativity because I have felt like I’ve been just stuck in a rut for so long as an artist and I truly miss the feeling of completion that comes with making art. Well, today’s prompt challenged me to create my own tarot / oracle card and I honestly could not be happier with my creation.

Wind chimes have always held a special place in my heart. I even had them hanging in my room as a child before I had an outdoor space I could hang them in. They provide such a beautiful sound and also provide warning of any overly dramatic weather.

Grandmother Willow from Pocahontas was obviously in my mind as I wrote the upright message. However, it’s the reversal that truly speaks to me on this card.

I will never forget when I was a child and had only just begun to be old enough to stay home alone and my mom called me to tell me that we had been placed under a tornado warning and she wouldn’t be able to come home until it was lifted. I was so scared. Growing up in Tornado Alley, I learned very quickly that you don’t mess with tornadoes. Momma talked me down though and told me it would be ok. All I had to do was listen outside. If the woods went silent, my brother and I needed to go to the basement ASAP.

I told her I didn’t understand. The woods were always quiet. And she said, “No, not the normal quiet. You’ll know the quiet I mean if you hear it.” And she was right. I didn’t hear it that day, but there was a day years later that I heard it. And I knew it immediately.

All around us are signs to help us on our journey. All we have to do is listen.
