RB3: "Fat Kid" Expert Vocals FC (RBN)
I mean, everyone already knows about this one, right? Pretty much every phrase has at least one tube that's charted either at the wrong pitch, at the wrong time, or both. There are some really dumb jumps that boil down to just remembering what note to pull from thin air, which is never a good sign on vocals. It has a reputation as one of the most infamous bad RBN charts out there for a reason.
The tragic irony of the "Fat Kid" situation is that this band actually gained some pretty significant popularity down the road. Nothing More currently has 2.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, which is a hell of a lot more than the couple dozen that so many other RBN bands have fifteen years later. Their first two projects aren't on streaming anymore and don't even have Wikipedia pages. "Fat Kid" comes from their third effort, so RBN was honestly way ahead of the curve.
Nothing More would finally gain some traction just in time for the RB4 era to start, but with the negative association of the "Fat Kid" chart from the RBN's heyday, I just feel like there was no way. I mean, HMX would eventually rewind plenty of bad charts when they started porting over the more popular RBN songs, but this song just has too much infamy behind it. I can't imagine the band would be willing to give the game another shot after a chart like this one shows up to represent their work.
Not that I personally care much for this band, but it is kind of a shame from a business opportunity perspective. What this band put out later would honestly have fit right in with a lot of the not-very-interesting metalcore-adjacent contemporary picks HMX was going for in the RB4 DLC catalog anyway. What I mean by that is that Nothing More is boring, but successful. "Fat Kid" has kind of a jokey charm to it, at least. But unlike this song, "Jenny," "This Is the Time (Ballast)," and "Go to War" actually have some real-world recognition to maybe drive some sales. Maybe. Honestly, this is mainly just on my radar because one of my friends in college really liked this band. And this opinion held true even after someone in the crowd allegedly vomited on her leg at one of the shows, so that's a real fan right there.
Oh yeah, and the singer for this band is absolutely shredded, by the way. "Fat Kid" my ass. That's some stolen valor right there.
