Snowboarding: The Gobi Cold Camel Eddition

“To live, is to explore”

Adventure to me has always been fuelled by curiosity. It started training wild horses years ago, to see if it was possible. Could I do it? After that what else Cass there, where could I go? Where in the world did wild things still roam? It was combing my curiosity with my love of animals that has taken me to far corners of the earth and eventually led to this. After many years visiting during summer, I always wanted to see Mongolia in winter and dreamed of doing an expedition through some of it’s most remote corners.

The idea to take a snowboard has long been at the back of my mind. Almost since the time my friend dreamed up the idea to use our horses to go wake boarding down the beach in New Zealand. This year my dreams came together and I set out to create Gobi Cold Camel Expedition. A chance to travel 300km like a nomad on camels, through the harshest, coldest part of Mongolia’s winter. With a bit of snowboarding thrown in on the side.

As far as I know, no one has ever snow boarded behind a camel. Anywhere in the world, ever before.

With the help of a herder and his camel, on the edge of a mountain range in the Gobi Desert I finally got to snow boarding. It was absolutely a dream come true.
