Stars Went Supernova Before the Universe Existed!

If we saw a star go nova that is over 6,000 light years away, did that star explode before god created the universe? Eric Lyons of Apologetics Press and World Video Bible School seems to think that these stars never existed, but god created light in such a way as to give us the illusion that they did.
