Nintendo has always placed tremendous importance on their handheld division which is something other major companies like Sony have never really done. From the days of the Game Boy to the modern 3DS lineup, Nintendo has constantly pushed the envelope and created some amazing machines. Their current handheld lineup consists of the Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS and 2DS XL as well as a tremendous amount of great games from the Pokemon franchise and the Legend of Zelda franchise just to name a few. While the first Nintendo 3DS was released all the way back in 2011, Nintendo is still making enhancements to their current handheld systems which cannot be more evident with the release of the 2DS XL in late July.

Most gamers think the different between the 3DS and the 2DS is the fact the 2DS cannot use the 3D features which obviously come with the 3DS. While that may be true, there are much more differences between the two handheld consoles than just the one feature. For starters, did you know the Nintendo 2DS actually only has one giant screen split into two by a piece of plastic? While it would explain the handheld console’s slate design, most of us probably did not think it was one solid screen. The Nintendo 2DS can’t play 3D games. Oh, we already said that?
