‘Tragedy on a daily basis’: Hungarian President on sharing border with Ukraine
Hungary’s President Katalin Novak has opened up on the suffering she has witnessed from the Ukraine-Russia war and how her country is “directly affected” by the conflict.
“Having a Hungarian ethnic minority on the border of Ukraine, we are really directly affected by the war in the Ukraine and that is very worrisome” Ms Novak told Sky News Australia host Rita Panahi.
“The war is a tragedy on a daily basis, on both sides they are losing lives.”
The president asserted that Hungary is doing its “utmost” to reach peace as soon as possible through negotiations and peace talks.
Approximately 9,614 civilians have been killed in the war thus far, according to the most recent statistics from OHCHR.
